Host a “Fun” raiser for Shelter Network

Many people are now making their events even more special by creatively adding extra meaning to their parties by helping the causes they care deeply about:

Birthday Parties (Adult and Children’s) & Bar/Bat Mitzvah Celebrations
Guests bring financial donations, or in-kind donations to Shelter Network instead of “things” for the host

Example: Ally M. of Palo Alto hosted her Sweet 16 party in the summer of 2007 and instead of receiving gifts from her teenage friends, she asked for modest donations ($5, $10 etc.) to donate to the programs at Shelter Network. Ally raised $1,500!
Example: Eli K. of Hillsborough asked his friends to donate to Shelter Network in his honor for his bar mitzvah. Eli raised $1,500 as well!

Jewelry, Fashion, Home Accessories, or Other In-home Sales Event Parties
Hosts and/or guests donate a portion of either sales or goods purchased to Shelter Network

Example: In November 2007, friends of Shelter Network hosted a custom jewelry party in their home and donated $8,500 from a portion of the sales!

Weddings
Guests make donations to Shelter Network in honor of the happy couple.

Example: In June 2007, in lieu of “traditional” gifts, a staff member of Shelter Network asked her guests to consider making a donation to Shelter Network instead. $15,000 in gifts was made in the couple's honor!

Concerts, Anniversary Parties, Wine Tastings . . .
