About the Benefit Breakfast
First hosted in 1988, Shelter Network’s Leading the Way Back Home Benefit Breakfast has become the premiere event on the San Francisco Peninsula. The inspiring event raises awareness about the issue of homelessness on the Peninsula and in Silicon Valley as well as critically needed funds to support Shelter Network’s model housing and support programs which serve thousands of men, women and children in our community each year.
The event is filled with moving testimonials by Shelter Network clients who have graduated to permanent housing, award presentations and a high profile speaker who is committed to addressing homelessness and poverty. There is also a VIP reception the evening before the breakfast which offers sponsors the opportunity to meet the guest speaker and other supporters.
2011 Keynote Speaker
Leigh Anne Tuohy is an amazingly inspiring woman best known for being featured in Michael Lewis's 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. The book highlighted the story of Michael Oher, a formerly homeless youth who went on to be one of the most highly coveted prospects in college football. The book was later made into a feature film entitled The Blind Side, in which actress Sandra Bullock portrayed Tuohy. Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. Michael Oher currently plays in the National Football League for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Benefit Breakfast is held in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1333 Bayshore Highway in Burlingame, CA (Hwy 101 at Bayshore).
